Burger King Upgrades POS Overseas

To keep a stronghold in the Middle East, Olayan Food Services Co. (OFSC) is outfitting its Burger King restaurants with a flexible point-of-sale (POS) system that can process transactions specific to the region.

The Olayan Group, which opened its first Burger King in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1992, currently owns and operates more than 200 Burger King locations in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt. When the company began evaluating POS solutions, it wanted “superior features and a partner with knowledge and experience in the market’s retail space,” said OFSC’s information technology manager, Tom Xavier.

Based on these criteria, OFSC chose the Aloha QuickService POS from Radiant Systems, Atlanta. OFSC felt it offered the best package of features and functionality, and also was attracted to Radiant’s channel partner, Professional Solutions, which is helping the company configure and implement the solution.

The team is preparing to install the solution in 90 restaurants.
